Darra Blackwell is a main character in The Bureau of Magical Things. He is an elf training to become a member of the DMI. He is portrayed by Julian Cullen.

Personality

Unlike his sister, Imogen, he is more friendly to others and not as enthusiastic in his studies. He has a laid-back attitude. He can be considered as a "hipster elf" – handsome, cool and charming. Darra knows he's attractive and acts on it. Though he's a rogue, he's disarmingly honest about who he is and what he wants. Darra comes from a privileged background. He has never had to work hard but he hates how people don't take him seriously because of his upbringing. Darra wants to prove himself within the magical world and move out from under his father's shadow.

Powers and Abilities

• Teletransportation: Darra has the ability to tele-transporting himself like in "A Magical Mishap" from the cafe into the Library of Magic.
• Telekinesis: Darra has the ability to manipulate telekinetic energy so he can levitate objects.
• Invisibility: Like all magical beings, Darra has the ability to cloak himself.
• Stun Attack: Darra has the ability to manipulate energy to create a stun attack like when he and Imogen had both zapped a magic-infected pogo stick to put it down in "A Fairy Tale".
• Superspeed: As an elf, Darra has the ability to run at superhuman speeds.
• Aura-Detecting: He has the ability to detect different aura's and has taught Kyra to also do it.

Biography

The day after attending a gnome party, Darra first met Kyra Glen when he left his seat for her outside Harvey's. ("A Magical Mishap")

Darra attended the DMI Student Awards which were held in the afternoon within the Library. Alongside his fellow students, he stood in support with Kyra when she confronted Jared, Orla, and Sean, making the point that they accepted her for what she was. ("Prize Day")

Trivia

• He hates spiders. (as shown in "On the Beach")
• His sister is Imogen Blackwell, another main character.
  • According to Elizabeth Cullen, Darra and Imogen were originally unrelated. However, this changed after she had auditioned for the series separately from her fellow actor and brother Julian Cullen, who would be cast as Darra.
